Modern vinyl production is a closely controlled and regulated process with an exceptional record of safety in the chemical industry.
This CEU course is designed to provide the learner with the necessary knowledge to make informed decisions about vinyl specification. The course will communicate the realities of today’s vinyl product manufacturing, discuss the latest information about vinyl products’ safety and sustainability and present a verification standard for responsible vinyl manufacturing.

Jay Thomas serves as the Vice President of Sustainability for the Vinyl Institute and the Executive Director of the Vinyl Sustainability Council. In these roles he is responsible for developing and implementing the strategies and tactics that support the sustainability mission and policies of the Vinyl Institute. He has more than 25 years of vinyl industry experience in the wire and cable, roofing and flooring industries having worked in various capacities at Tyco International and Sika Corporation. Jay is an emeritus director of the Green Building Initiative and is a certified Green Globes Professional. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Northeastern University and an M.B.A. from University of Massachusetts.

Bill has worked in the commercial construction industry for over 20 years as part of Sika’s roofing division, starting out in sales and eventually evolving into sales and marketing management as well leading key digital transformation projects for the organization. He is a LEED Accredited Professional with a strong background in sustainability. Bill is the current acting marketing chair for the CFFA’s PVC Roofing Division as well as the Vinyl Sustainability Council and is also a participating member of the RT3 (Roofing Technology Think Tank). Bill has a Bachelor’s in English and Psychology from Bridgewater State University and also completed the business strategy certificate program from Cornell University.

Polymer Solutions Vestolit, an Orbia Business
Thomas is a professional engineer serving as the Climate Change Leader for Polymer Solutions Vestolit, an Orbia Business. In this role, he oversees efforts to reduce carbon emissions and waste generated by Vestolit’s operations. He uses his experience in consulting and manufacturing roles to analyze how processes create these impacts and identify the most effective ways to mitigate them.
